Sara Fontana – Founder and Architect

Sara Fontana is an Italian Architect, always been passionate about our architectural heritage, thanks to her university studies, but mostly through travels and private researches.

Recently, she began to raise awareness in what is now her beloved interest: sustainability in architecture.

As well as other fields like fashion or furniture, architecture is slave of quick trends and iconic personal signature, that will be out of trend with the change of the wind.

“I was definitely feeling that I needed to do something against this consumerism attitude and the overpowering marketing in our contemporary society, but it was quite hard to find the way that fits me…

Then I started to relate to what is more close to me, architecture.”

In November 2017 she decides to start a project on Instagram, under the name of @reusearchitecture to show how it is possible to reuse our existing heritage in a mindful way.

Sara, therefore, decides to create an archive of projects, with the goal to communicate to the designers and the developers that something has to change and that we have to stop designing buildings like a throwaway t-shirt.

“I find the idea of reusing existing buildings far more exiting then thinking of new shapes and crazy ideas, just following the flow of the current design trends.”

At the end of 2018, Sara created the website www.reusearchitecture.com to share more content of her research.

In May 2019 she presented the project at the popular Pechakucha night in London.
